Pamugaran Gallery 'Artist-in-Residence' Agus Gecko
We are pleased to show the works of our 'Artist-in-Residence'. Agus 'Gecko' Ramadhi Sugiharto was born in Bandung, West Java in 1958. He attended and graduated from the Art School SSRI (Sekolah Seni Rupa Indonesia), Yogyakarta in 1975, Fine Art Institute ISI (Institute Seni Indonesia) in 1978 and then attended the Faculty of Fine Art and Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Agus was awarded an outstanding merit award: Pratita Adhikarya for Sculptering pottery and painting and a sample of his work is featured in the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta. From 1975-1980 he was active in the Movement 'Sanggar Bambu', and participated in various joint exhibitions in Yogyakarta. from 1990 his energy and talent was directed at constructing a unique tourist spot known as the Delta Gecko Village, which unfortunately was destroyed during the 2006 West Java Tsunami. In 1996 he was sponsored by Kartika Affandi to create a mozaic for the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta. Talented in contemporary mixed media and ceramic mozaic genres, Agus is inspired by the works of Antonio Gaudi. Agus Gecko's unique work will be much sought after by collectors in the future.
